LOVELORN (Dir. Becky Preston)

LOVELORN: After a tragic accident John begins an obsessive crusade to bring his comatose sister back to the waking world. In his sleep he walks the afterlife where she is trapped and soon John finds himself playing a game for her soul, a game that can’t be won, against the only opponent who can never be beaten, Death. His flat mate Kate struggles to deal with his increasingly irrational behaviour, as he spirals deeper into this dark world, convinced that he can rescue Lorna.
About the filmmakers:
BECKY PRESTON – Writer / Director
Becky’s directorial debut, ‘Avowal’, was a BAFTA grand finalist 60 second short film, televised on the BBC and screened at the world famous Covent Garden as the opening gala to the BAFTA evening. Becky returned with her second short film, ‘Star’, teaming up with Joanna Christie (No Angels, Holby City, Equus) and was the closing film to the BBC Short Film Festival, the film has been screened at festivals on both sides of the Atlantic.
At the young age of 21, Becky makes her feature film debut with ‘Lovelorn, making her mark in a new generation of female film makers.
CHRISTINE CHEUNG - Producer
Christine started her career at the BBC working in different areas of the business. She was Line Producer on a BBC film ‘Small Dark Places’, which won Best Short Film Audience Choice Awards and nominated for the Jury Prize at the Trimedia Film Festival in Colorado, USA. The film was broadcast on BBC 3 receiving outstanding reviews and made Time Out magazine’s drama choice of the day. ‘Lovelorn’ is her feature debut.
